Blessing in disguise is the correct one line history of the above institutions.

Bhuj suffered devastating earthquake on 26th January,2001. Rtn. DGE Bharat M.Dholakia was supposed to attend Governor’s Training at Anaheim from 17th February, 2001. His house and office were severally damaged. Due to motivation of PRID Kalyan Banerjee he went there but with some mission conceived in the mind of PRID Kalyan Banerjee.

During dinner at Anaheim, Smt.Usha Saboo spouse of PRIP Rajendra Saboo along with PRIP Rajendra Saboo and PRID Kalyan Banerjee called Bharat to meet spouses of Past Rotary international presidents. He was asked what kind of gift he would prefer at Kutch. Having visualized the necessacity and with a view to stop migration, he immediately replied a School. Spouses of past Rotary International president contributed to the MG 17057 which was first of its kind as generally Rotary Foundation never encouraged Matching Grants for construction. Initially it was planned to have school at Jestanagar but the site was not cleared by the administration. Having posed with the question, PRID Kalyan Banerjee, PDG Mohan Shah and DG Bharat Dholakia decided to start Rotary School at Bhuj. Having received TRF Matching Grant, Rs.35 lakhs were donated by The Rotary Gujarat Earthquake Rebuild Trust having PRID Kalyan as Managing Trustee and PDG Mohan Shah and PDG Bharat Dholakia as Trustees. Due to efforts by PDG Mohan shah Vishva Gujarati Samaj donated Rs.25 lakh for high School. The construction activity was started and due to hard work efforts of PP Jayesh Shah a beautiful environment for School was created.

Rotary Education Society was formed and PDG Mohan N.Shah was the first Chairman and PDG Bharat M.Dholakia as Managing Trustee. Now the Society is chaired by PDG Bharat M.Dholakia and Pp Jayesh Shah as managing Trustee.

PRID Kalyan Banerjee, PRID Sushil Gupta, PRID P.C.Thomas and many PDG from India and abroad have visited the school. Being Impressed PDG Paul Street, Canberra Australia helped in procuring School Bus with aide from his District.

Bhuj was having one and only Hindi Medium High School. The same was closed from 30th June,2006. Immediately reacting to the situation the Society took up the challenge and within a record time they have started the Hindi Medium School with recognisition from the State Government. Next year Rotary Education Society is starting English medium High School affiliated to C.B.S.C.
